"Well, a doula gives encouragement, reassurance, physical support, information, and guidance to both mother and partner before and during labor, at birth, and postpartum. A licensed massage therapist doula uses specialized massage techniques that lessen pain and help labor progress in hopes to decrease the chance of a C-section.

Having an Epidural?

A doula plays a vital role in supporting you during delivery, even if you choose an epidural. Continuous physical and emotional support is essential both before and after the epidural is administered. In some cases, epidurals may only provide partial relief, and your doula can help manage this by facilitating in-bed positioning to encourage labor progression. Additionally, the doula provides relaxation techniques, supports your partner, answers questions, assists during pushing, and offers guidance with initial breastfeeding.
